The Power of a Shared Vision

John 15:5 “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing

One of the things that we are told over and over again is to develop a vision. You have heard that without a vision the people parish. You understand that having a vision is important to you fulfilling your destiny.  But have you ever considered that the kind of people that you surround yourself with might be impacting your vision?

One of the things that you will find most difficult to do in life is to find people who will support and share your vision.  If you ever find that person, then you are truly blessed.  I have found that person in my wife Sandra and a few of our faithful members at True Vine.  You will need this to fulfill your destiny as well.  If you have a dream, you will need a team!  Surround yourself with like minded people who share the same vision as you do. Jesus said that if any two of you shall agree upon anything, they shall have what they say.

If you are going to be successful in your Christian walk, you must find someone who shares your vision.  You cannot marry an unbeliever and expect an unbeliever to support your vision of faith.
You’ve got to associate yourself with people who are like minded.

Jesus said I am the Vine and you are the branches and if you abide in me and I in you, you shall bare much fruit.
Jesus meant that in order for a plant to be fruitful it must stay connected to the vine.  Likewise, as a disciple of Christ, you’ve must share His vision in order to produce fruit.

Fruit is the blessing of a purposeful life.
Fruit is the best result of your labor.

If you are going to have a fruitful life, you’ve got to be connected to Jesus Christ and people who share the same vision as you.

You cannot allow people who do not share your vision to change your purpose or distract you from God's intended goal for your life.  When I was a young man of about 16, I met a girl and we started dating. This girl‘s family had a vision for her.  So they weren’t too happy about her courting so soon in life.   So, they kept her busy with activities like: Junior Achievement Club, YWCA, Pom-Pom Team, Homework, and Chores.  On Monday night she was busy... On Tuesday nights she was busy... On Wednesday night... She was busy on Thursday night... She was busy on Friday night... She was busy on most evenings… She would do her chores and homework.

Being a young man, all I wanted to do was to see her. Now I didn’t know it at the time, but my goal of dating, was a distraction to her parents' vision for their daughter.   Many times the father would come home from work and when he would see me, he would just growl.   The point is we’ve got to protect our vision.

The devil will try to distract you with so many things:
He’ll try to get you angry with somebody and cause you to lose your faith
He’ll try to distract you with money.
He'll cause you to take a job on Sunday Morning so you can’t hear the word.
He'll  distract you with lust.
He'll send somebody into your life that doesn’t share your faith.

But Jesus said, if you abide in me ... you will bare much fruit.
